Tree Paeony and Large Whites

Tree Peonies are a wonderful addition
to the herbaceous border where the flowers,
borne on woody, lax branches burst into
bloom in early summer.
This variety – Paeonia suffruticosa ‘Godaishu’ has
huge flowers about 25cm across, which look like
so many handkerchiefs.
A breath of air was all it took to stir
the petals of the Tree Peony.
The butterflies are caught in the faint breeze
and are wafted across the picture
and out of the frame.
