Tigerlily at Raffles with lettering
Raffles Hotel in Singapore has long been one of the
great hotels of the world, renowned for it’s apparently
effortless luxury, style and tropical old world charm.
The cool and elegant Long Bar has been a meeting place
for the well heeled and smartly dressed since the 1920’s.
The last tiger to be shot in Singapore was found lurking
under the snooker table in the Long Bar about
eighty years ago.
Tigerlily was a character from the ‘Rupert’ children’s
books and here we have borrowed her wonderfully
inventive title, but not her image, to represent both the
unfortunate tiger and the fashionable younger set.
One of life’s many pleasures is to get on the correct side
of a ‘Singapore Sling’ at the cocktail hour in this
most romantic setting.
