The Linnaeus Project C
The last beachside development being allowed in New South
Wales is a unique arts driven and inspired creation of dwellings,
study areas and recreational facilities called The Linnaeus Estate.
This has been built on a very small part of a dauntingly
beautiful area of 350 acres of littoral rainforest in the very
northernmost part of the state.
Amongst the carefully conserved flora and fauna is an
extremely rare shrub, long thought by many to be extinct,
called the Littoral Acanacia.
One of the aims of the Linnaeus Project is to attract temporarily
resident artists, sculptors and study groups to live and work
alongside the residents to create new works and to preserve
that which already exists in this extraordinary place.
The beach itself is left as a completely unmanaged wilderness
so that its natural beauty can be enjoyed by all – unless David
decides to add a few embellishments on paper that is.
