Alfred at the Mermaid pool
Sydney has 21 outdoor salt water
swimming pools. A few are dotted around the
harbour but the majority are to be found along
the North and South shores.
They fill up when the tide comes in and
cascades over the seaward walls, and are safe to
swim in when the tide recedes and you have
checked that no sharks have been left in the pool.
The Mermaid Pool is at one end of Bondi
Beach. The Iceberg Pool is at the other.
Where there was water Alfred Wallis would
paint a ship. So why make this an exception.
Makes a change from looking out for sharks.
