Ri Chang
-Ri Chang – People’s Artist
Born in 1942 in Ham Gyong Province
Laureate of the Pyongyang Art University
Ri has been awarded many gold medals for his work, many of his works of art have been highly regarded in international exhibitions and dozens of his works of art have been submitted to international art exhibitions held in Japan, France, Indonesia, Australia, etc, so far. More than 80 works of art created by him are now preserved at the Korean Art Gallery.
It can be said that “An Old Man on the River Rakdong”) is one of his masterpieces.
Professor at the Kim Chol Ju University of Education in Pyongyang and at the Pyongyam Art University.
Since Juche 67 (1978) Ri has worked at the Mansudae Art Studio. Created more than 1,000 works of art based on various themes. Among them are dozens of works of art worthy of national treasure, including “An Echo in Outer Chilbo” (165x100cns), “Red Plum Blossoms” (800_200), “On the Lake of Pujon” (130x 65), “Pumpkin Flowers” (90_45), “The Ryongwang Pavilion in the Morning” and “Inner Kumgang in Spring” Mt. Paektu Stalled in Snowstorm"
